He came to the United States in 1993 with $475 in his pocket, and not a word of English. He found a job distributing flyers for a local restaurant, and from there moved up to delivery driver, cook, and, finally, general manager, before opening his own restaurant in 2001. Under his leadership, Piccolo Italian Restaurant became a thriving upscale eatery in Austin, Texas, in spite of the recession. After five good years, Ramin sold his restaurant, and moved into a new line of work. Working in service, management, and sales for Jack In The Box, Bennigan’s, and Blockbuster Corporation, Ramin saw that corporations missed out on tremendous opportunities because they neglected their employees, and focused exclusively on the bottom line.
